The Will of Anne Honeysett,
widow of Herstmonceux

Probate granted - 28 November 1744

In the name of God Amen I Anne Honeysett Widow and Relict of Richard Honeysett late of the parish of Herstmonceux in the County of Sussex Labourer deceased being weak in Body but of sound Mind and Memory (praised be the Lord) and considering the uncertainty of this transitory life (revoking all former Wills by me made) Do make and declare this to be my last Will and Testament wherein first and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping for eternal Salvation through the merits of Jesus Christ my Redeemer and my Body to the Earth to be decently buried by the direction(?) of my Executor hereinafter named And for Such Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this Life I give and dispose of the same in manner and form following.

In the First Place I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Mary Wratten the bedsted Curtains and the Covering of my best Bed in the Milkhouse Chamber the Feather which did belong to this bedsted being in my said Daughter's possession already, and I give to my said Daughter my best pair of Flaxen Sheets and the best pair of pillowcoats. And I also give and bequeath unto my said Daughter the Sume of fifteen Pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid by my Executor hereinafter named within Six Months next after my decease.

Item I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Anne Gower my second best bed bedsted Curtains and Covering now in my Kitchin Chamber and I give unto my said Daughter Anne my second best pair of Flaxen Sheets and one pair of my second best Pillow Coats and I also give and bequeath unto my said Daughter Anne Gower the Sume of Fifteen pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid her by my Executor hereinafter named within Five years and Three months next after my decease by yearly equal payments and portions, the first payment to begin and be made at the end of three months next after my decease for her Use and the Use of her Children and I will that in case my said Daughter Anne shall depart this life before the whole Fifteen pounds shall be paid to her then what shall be behind and unpaid shall be paid to such of the Children of my said Daughter as shall be then living, to be equally divided between them by equal yearly payments.

Item All the rest and residue of my Estate whatsoever and wheresoever (subject to the payment of my Debts Legacys and Funeral Expenses) I give and bequeath unto my Son Richard Honeysett And Lastly I nominate and constitute and appoint my said Son Richard whole and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament set my Hand and Seale this Twenty Sixth day of October in the Eighteenth Year of The Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second King of Great Britain and so forth and in the Year of our Lord God One Thousand Seven Hundred Forty and Four.

The Will of Anne Honeysett late of Herstmonceux within the Archdeanery of Lewes was proved the Twenty Eighth Day of November In the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty Four Before the Reverend Mr. Edward Lund Clerk Surrogate & Upon the Oath of Richard Honeysett sole Executor in the said Will named To whom was committed the Administration of all and singular the goods and being first sworn well and faithfully to administer the same and so forth
